A Child Being Subjected to Abuse by an Angry Parent

The huge number of child abuse victims in the United States and around the world is staggering, and it turns out that the main abusers are parents, mainly due to neglect. Most of the children who end up in foster care are abused. And millions of children have become victims of child trafficking, where they end up being sold, primarily for slave labor, while many female victims are recruited into prostitution. In this article, I want to look at the extent of the problem, what we can do about it, and how a forthcoming book and documentary Abused can help alert people to the problem so they can contribute to the effort to do something about it. The stats come from various sources identified a search on Bing.

Who Are the Victims in the U.S.

The statistics regarding child abuse victims in the United States are sobering. Here’s a summary of the current data:

· Number of Victims: In 2022, Children’s Advocacy Centers in the U.S. served approximately 380,494 child victims of abuse. But the total numbers are much more. In 2021, there were about 600,000 child victims of abuse and neglect according to one report, while other reports state that around 7.2 million children were subjected to abuse, and about 4 million were mistreated.
