New Drama About Racial Issues: Reversal

In the last three months, since the May 25 killing of George Floyd, there has been a growing reckoning about the years of racial injustice, spurred on by the Black Lives Matter movement. Well, what if the spreading protests and legal actions led to a reversal of roles in the United States, and in other countries that have also experienced these protests?

That’s the premise of the recently released Reversal. It’s a social-drama and love story set in a near future where Blacks and Latinos are in power and Whites and Asians are the racially oppressed minority. Reversal follows the romance of two high-school students, Sammy and Ella, one from a rich African-American family and the other from poor white trash. Both Sammy and Ella overcome prejudice and bullying from dysfunction families and environments to create an enduring relationship. It is available on Amazon at: https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B08GKM2RF9.

The film has gained a growing number of fans who feel the film shows the coming together of individuals from different backgrounds, despite families with differing responses to the changes in society, can bridge hatred through the power of love.

The film is another production from Changemakers Productions and Dear Skyyler Productions. The companies have released a half-dozen other films in the past three years, including Driver, about a Uber-like driver who becomes a serial killer; two documentaries on dogs, their owners, and rescue organizations, Me, My Dog, and I and Rescue Me; and The New Age of Aging, about individuals 80 and other living a healthy active life and how they do it.

The two companies are in the forefront of new independent companies who are changing the film industry, with new timely feature films, documentaries, and TV/film series. They are using a variety of online platforms for distribution that are increasingly replacing theatrical showings. So far all of their completed films are in distribution by various distributors, and three more films will be released at the end of October and in early December.

The producers include Gini Graham Scott, Jack Skyyler, Alex Zinzopoulos, and Peter Anderson, and the film is distributed by the Shami Media Group.
