Democracy Is Dying — A Song to Help Save Democracy

Today, the threat to democracy is growing, with voting caught up in threats to voters, mailboxes, laws to restrict counting ballots, and other laws to arrest and jail protesters. These threats inspired Democracy Is Dying, a popular song about the dangers we face as a nation.

The song is now featured on many popular music platforms from Twitch and TikTok to Spotify and Amazon Music. You can listen to it on YouTube at https://youtu.be/_Fj1GV6-iQM .

Here’s the first verse:

So who will save us?

Who will take a stand?

Otherwise we’re lost,

Freedom’s dying in the land.

So come on people,

It’s time for us to fight.

We’ve got to stand up now

Before we lose that light.

The song is one of a series, which I have been writing about everyday life today and fighting the pandemic. These have been collected into a songbook featuring a dozen of these songs: What Happened to the American Dream.
