Are Trump and Biden Going to the Dogs? A New Personality Type System Shows How They Are

Joe Biden as a Golden Retriever; Donald Trump as a German Shepherd

Biden reflect different personality types described in a new personality profiling system I created called the Dog Type Personality System. The system has parallels with classic personality systems such as Myers-Briggs, Color Profiling, and DISC, though it uses popular dog breeds to characterize the four key personality types identified in these other systems. It’s an approach that helps to dramatize these different types for better understanding oneself and how to better relate to others.

In this system, the four types are the German Shepherd, who typifies the dominant leadership type, the Golden Retriever, who typifies the supportive helper type, the Pomeranian, who typifies, the social people person, and the Border Collie, who typifies the researcher detail-oriented person. Individuals of any type can be effective leaders, but they have different styles and ways of relating to people.

I began thinking about how Biden and Trump fit these different styles in the recent Trump-Biden debate. As they each spoke, Trump and Biden showed their unique personality traits and leadership styles, as described in the book I wrote about this dog type personality system: What Type of Dog Are You published by Waterside Productions.

Based on these types, Donald Trump is like a German Shepherd, who uses force and power in being a leader, while Joe Biden is like a Golden Retriever, who wants to assist and support others. So while Trump seeks to dominate in any relationship and is drawn to being an authoritarian leader who directs people what to do and demands loyalty, Biden seeks to build coalitions and teams and to lead through influencing others.

The system can similarly be applied to other political leaders, and there are plans to develop a documentary about how different people are using the dog type system to better understand themselves and work with others. It will be filmed with a film production team I have worked with on 18 films, 15 of them in distribution by major distributors — Dear Skyyler Productions. Most recently, I have worked with the team on a series of documentaries based on books I wrote about scams published by American Leadership Books and turned into the documentaries “Conned: A True Story” based on The Big Con” and “Con Artists Unveiled” turned into I Was Scammed. Both films are distributed by Gravitas Ventures. The books are on Amazon and the films can be seen on Apple TV: Conned: A True Story — Apple TV and Con Artists Unveiled — Apple TV. Another film, “Women in Prison or With Partners in Prison” is being launched at the American Film Market in November in Las Vegas based on two published books, also from American Leadership Books: Women with Partners in Prison and Women in Prison: Getting Locked Up, Being a Mother or in a Minority Group, and Getting Out.

Perhaps Trump and Biden might find the system helpful as they run their campaigns and deal with or might deal with everyday crises and work with Congress and the leaders of other countries.
