A Song about Breaking Through the Media Clutter to Get Known
I’ve been writing a series of articles about breaking through the media clutter to get known as an unknown, soon to turned into a book, and now I’ve written a country song about it: “Making Your Dreams Come Through.” It reflects the basic strategy of this getting-known approach, which involves persistence in letting the media know what you are doing and creating special activities or events that help you stand out.
In the song, that’s what the singer does. He has been struggling for years, when he meets a stranger who gives him some good advice on what to do, so he finally breaks through.
Here’s a link to the song, so you can listen to it yourself. https://youtu.be/uBR_Z11K_To
I have been using this approach to promote two of my films that were recently released by Gravitas Ventures. You can use it for promoting a book, too. One of the films is Conned: A True Story, based on the book The Big Con published by American Leadership Books. It’s about how I discovered a book-to-film scam which was based on creating a phony executive to get authors to pay more and more for writing pitch materials and a market campaign that went nowhere because it was all a scam. The film features a half-dozen victims talking about their experiences. The second film is Con Artists Unveiled, based on I Was Scammed, also from American Leadership Books, about different scams and how to avoid them. The films and books are available on Amazon.
So enjoy the song and follow the suggested approach for making your own dreams come true. Importantly, the key tips include creating a narrative-driven campaign by using the compelling stories behind your project in your marketing. Create short videos, blog posts, or social media content to share your story. Also engage in a consistent and persistent effort, like the singer does in the song, so you continue to promote your film, series, or book on a regular basis by regularly updating your audience on the latest news and any special activities you create to make your project even more newsworthy.
